“I’m really happy. Over the final 15 kilometres, we took up the right positions in the peloton with my teammates. In the end, I really wanted to go for this victory because they did an amazing job just to help me win. Last year, I spent a lot of time recovering from my knee injury and, in total, I was out of competition for five months. So it was important for me to win early in the season. And it’s nice to win ahead of Fernando — he’s a very good rider and someone I know well.”
